What do you do?

I write fiction--mostly thrillers, some sci-fi & fantasy. I aim for a distinctive voice, lyrical prose, and portraying the kind of heroes we'd all like to be. I also help struggling and aspiring writers become confident storytellers via the new Fiction From First Principles newsletter, available on my website.

Why?

I write because it's the most authentic expression of who I truly am. I enjoy everything about it. Plus, as careers go, writing allows mobility, freedom, and a minimalistic lifestyle of adventure and contemplation.
