My motto is, "Understand with courage." I think that often when people begin to find understanding on a particular subject, they don't dare to do the work to understand more fully. It is scary to learn something new or change your mind because you might be prompted to change, and change is hard.

What do you do?

I try to understand with courage, create meaningful art, and share what I learn with others.

Why?

Living a creative life makes me happy. I love learning new things and changing my mind.

What should we read?

The Mysterious Stanger by Mark Twain. (It is his last book and was completed by a friend after his death. It is not as popular as his other novels, but it just might be my favorite.)

Survive! by Les Stroud. (Les Stroud, I believe, is the best living survival expert. I've read many books about the outdoors/survival, and this is the best by far.)

Natasha's Dance: A Cultural History of Russia by Orlando Figes (Russian was one of my majors in university. Out of all the history books I read, this is the one I keep coming back to. Read this book to understand Russia and why it is the way it is.)
