I believe LLM generated code is like IKEA for code. It'll drive some carpenters out, but only the formulaic "shelf makers", rather than the real consummate professionals. Wrote an entire article on my page pondering this idea and parellel in more details. I don't think real software engineering is going anywhere, just as real carpentry didn't go anywhere with machines and cheap furniture.

Independent technical partner (fractional CTO, backoffice automation)
What do you do?
I help growing companies build Insurance, payments, accounting, and the systems that make businesses run - not just the code.
Why?
I build better businesses to use my talents and my pragmatism (unusual for the wider tech community) to do tangible work, impacting real lives. I've found a few too many abstractions in pure software engineering, and I like to use my eye for details, process, and inefficiency. My approach is straightforward (some would say brutish) but always comes with proof and cause. Do the simplest thing that works.
What should we read?
The Book of the New Sun - Gene Wolfe;
Thinking Fast and Slow - Daniel Kahneman
