We have a word for a thing out of its time--anachronism--and none at all for a thing out of its place. Anatopism, if we coined it. Displacement in space is at least as common as displacement in time, and arguably it's the condition of the age.

I'm a French teacher with a half-finished doctorate and no regrets about the half I skipped.
Why?
I tried the prestigious version of my life and it hollowed me out; the only work that's ever tired me without emptying me is the small, barely-paid, no-one's-watching kind. So I stopped arguing with that and followed it.
