I spent a few years on a Navy ship making sure alarms didn't go off — now I do the same thing, except the ship is a building full of generators and chainsaws and the alarms are PagerDuty alerts."
Why?
Mostly for the money - but I do gain some strange satisfaction knowing that I keep the servers running so someone can get that 2am log-splitter purchase in today or tomorrow.
What should we read?
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is still one of my favorite reads.
