Freelance book indexer
What do you do?
I write indexes for books, mostly in the fields of science and medicine, but I'm also quite the generalist—indexing far-ranging topics from the rise (and fall) of disco to nature books and biographies.
Why?
I became an indexer accidentally after learning about indexing from a neighbor. I continue to index because I like the variety, flexibility, and exposure to books I might not otherwise choose to read. For me, indexing is a liberal arts education that I get paid to pursue, and there is no limit on the number of courses I can take.
What should we read?
